Card conditions

Cardexchange.com uses the same grading scale as Magic Card Market:

  • Mint : This card is in perfect condition, usually straight from the pack, stored into a sleeve and never played. We cannot guarantee Mint condition, even for new cards, so we normally do not use this condition for grading our cards.
  • Near-mint: This card is as good as new and usually straight from the pack or played with in a sleeve. It may have some minor flaws, like some small white spots at the edges or a small scratch or some wear on the surface that is only visible if you look closely. Because we do not use Mint condition for grading our cards, Near-mint cards are in Near-mint condition or better. Near-mint is the default condition for the cards we sell.
  • Excellent: This card has clearly seen some play and has been in and out of sleeves. It has some white spots at the edges, at the corner and/or some small scratches or wear on the surface. The general condition of this card is still acceptable if played in a sleeve.
  • Good: This card looks like it has been played without sleeve and shows wear and/or dirt all over the card. The shape of the card is however good enough to play it in a sleeve.
  • Light Play: This card looks like it has been played without sleeve for a long time. It's condition is pretty bad, but you could still play it in a sleeve.
  • Played: This card has serious damage such as extreme wear or creases. It is probably not tournament legal, even in a sleeve.
  • Poor: This cards has been damaged by reasons other than play, such as water damage or bending, and it is never legal in play, even in a sleeve. Edges may have been inked or the card may have been written on.
